But they can also have security and privacy implications if used for malicious purposes. A newly formed IETF working group has taken on the task to standardize a protocol that protects people against being unknowingly tracked.

  • New Internet Architecture Board, IETF Trust, IETF LLC and Internet Engineering Task Force Leadership Announced

    Members of the incoming Internet Architecture Board (IAB), the IETF Trust, the IETF Administration LLC (IETF LLC) Board of Directors, and the Internet Engineering Steering Group (IESG)—which provides leadership for the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)—have been officially announced, with new members selected by the 2023-2024 IETF Nominating Committee.

New IETF work begins often as a proposed new working group, through something called a Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) session.

This blog article is here to remind you that all BoF requests are due Friday for the November IETF meeting in Honolulu.

Here are the important deadlines:

  • 2014-09-26 (Friday): Cut-off date for requests to schedule Working Group meetings at UTC 23:59. To request a Working Group session, use the Session Request Tool.
  • 2014-09-26 (Friday): Cut-off date for BOF proposal requests to Area Directors at UTC 23:59. To request a BOF, please see instructions on Requesting a BOF.
  • 2014-10-03 (Friday): Cut-off date for Area Directors to approve BOFs at UTC 23:59.
  • 2014-10-10 (Friday): Preliminary agenda published for comment.

You can also register for the meeting. Much of our hotel block in the main meeting hotel (Hilton Hawaiian Village) has been used up, but there are plenty of nearby hotels.
